Mentoring offers children who have a parent in the criminal justice system a supportive, caring
and non-judgemental relationship with an adult mentor, enabling them to participate in
events and social activities which will enhance their growth, development and esteem.

The Mentoring Program is an opportunity for children to develop a positive relationship with an adult role model, providing consistency and stability in the life of a child or young person without
intruding into their own family structure.
Mentors are trained volunteers who meet with the child
on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. It offers children
and young people the opportunity to:
- Have a supportive, caring and non-judgmental relationship with an adult mentor
- Talk to someone who is there just for them
- Have a support system which will encourage, support and develop their personal growth
- Develop new skills and/or interests
- Improve existing skills and/or interests
- Develop positive, personal outlooks (build on their self esteem, communication and interpersonal skills).
