Kids with parents in prison tell their stories
If you're a young person with a parent in jail, it's one of the hardest things you'll probably ever have to deal with. It's important to know two things:
- Lots of others have been in this situation, or they still are right now; and
- You don't have to do it by yourself. There are places you can go for help with all sorts of stuff and you won't be telling those people anything they haven't heard before.
If you're in this situation, you'll probably find a story here from someone who's experienced what you're going through right now, and come out the other side. They're real, from kids in Australia*.
And there's information about what you can do and where you can go if you need the same kind of support. All the organisations we recommend here have helped lots of young people with parents in prison.
No-one will judge you – they know that what's happening to you is not your fault.
