SHINE for Kids values your privacy and as such is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988. This act comprises of ten privacy principles that apply to private sector organisations. SHINE for Kids respects and upholds your rights to privacy protection under the National Privacy Principles in regulating how we collect, use, disclose and hold your personal information. We have a detailed policy that sets out the procedures to staff members that have access to your personal information and that the information remains confidential and it is used for the appropriate purpose in accordance with the policy. Once you choose to provide your personally identifiable information (any information by which you can be identified) this information will only be used to support your contact/client relationship with SHINE for Kids.
Why SHINE for Kids collects your personal information
We are very grateful to the many people who provide financial or non financial support which allows us to provide our important work in the community. When you provide us with your personal information it will be recorded on our database and used to contact you for our organisational needs. Only the information you choose to provide will be recorded.

SHINE for Kids will not collect your sensitive personal information such as religious or philosophical beliefs, state of health, ethnicity or political convictions unless you choose to or consent to provide this information. Any information that you choose to provide will only be used for the purpose of the organisation as we collect information in a non-intrusive, lawful and fair manner.

On the SHINE for Kids website you can subscribe to different events and make requests and register to receive information or materials. The types of personal information collected at these pages are name, contact details and some preference information.
So that we can continuously improve our services and tailor our communications to you, we may also ask you to provide information regarding your professional interests, demographics and more contact preferences.
How we collect your information
We collect your personal information when you provide it to SHINE for Kids either through participation in fundraising, information events or by responding to a mail out. We may also collect your personal information from publicly available sources e.g. directories or web searches.
How we keep your personal information secure
If you provide us with your personal information, it is securely stored in our database which is accessed only by authorised staff of SHINE for Kids. Our computer system is kept secure by our internal network. Users have allocated security access levels and each terminal requires a username and password for access.
We at SHINE for Kids are committed to ensuring the security of your information. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, data accuracy and ensure the appropriate use of information we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to keep the data that we have collected online secure.
Choice and changing your information
SHINE for Kids will also provide you the opportunity to let us know if you do not wish to receive unsolicited direct marketing materials from us and we will do everything to honour any such requests.

Who we share your personal information with
SHINE for Kids will not sell, rent or lease your personally identifiable information to others. Unless you have given consent or are required by law we will only share the personal information you choose to provide with other SHINE for Kids entities that act on behalf of SHINE for Kids and are bound by our privacy policies in respect to the use of the data/information.
